Welcome to Robert Rome Pigeons, where you can learn about the pigeons of Robert J Rome (known as Rob to friends and colleagues).
Ambition – to create the ultimate racing pigeon – that can win 1st prizes against thousands of birds competing – from 60 to 600 miles and beyond – any conditions – any weather – any velocities. To breed birds with no limits – that can excel when the conditions get tough – that are beautiful to the eye – perfect in the hand – tame by nature – with fantastic eyesign – and an impressive pedigree.

The Rome loft has collected hundreds of 1st prizes, in Club and Federation. More importantly, 1st prizes at National Section and Open level have been achieved in 3 different UK locations. Up until 2014, Rob was racing with his late father “Robbie” in the famous town of Annan in South West Scotland – a real hotbed of top National lofts. From 2012 to 2016, Rob started racing in his first English loft – in a beautiful Cotswolds village, near Cheltenham Spa. And today the present day lofts are situated in Fleet in Hampshire. A 1st National prize was achieved in 2022 from this location – “Tiny Dancer” won a very difficult race by a large margin.
In recent years, the Rome pigeons have also won 1st National prizes for other lofts in England, Scotland and Wales – topping the NFC, BICC, SNFC and Welsh SRNFC.
When the birds win in other lofts it brings me a lot of joy – because when the Rome birds win in other lofts (normally under different loft conditions and racing systems) I know that the DNA and winning genes are strong. It gives me greater confidence to breed more from those same lines in my own loft.
